Jan Kreutz was born on August 18, 1897, Vienna - died on December 30, 1979, in Prague. Painter, illustrator. From 1915 to 1917 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and from 1921 to 1926 at the private school of J. Šilhavý. In 1924 - 1926 he made study trips to Italy. In 1928 he and Alan Forejt went on a study trip to South, Central and North America. Exhibitions: in Rubeš Gallery in Prague 1937 and 1941, he exhibited in Sušice every year. He exhibited mainly figural paintings from the Tatras, Slovakia and Moravian Slovakia. He was an enthusiastic ethnographer, so in his interwar and later work he was dominated by figural painting inspired by the everyday life of Czech, Slovak and Moravian villagers and by the dry motifs.
